Twelve Character Story
So! There’s this thing I got tagged by Jeanette Bennett, a.k.a. Scablander to do, which basically is one of those “list X things and then fill in the numbers in the questions below with the matching item” things. This one in particular is for various characters of various media.
I’ve linked the characters who are not common knowledge to a reference page, for your informational pleasure.
1. Arcadia Snips (from Arcadia Snips and the Steamwork Consortium)
2. Sherlock Holmes
3. Belle (from Beauty and the Beast)
4. Meriadoc Brandybuck (from The Lord of the Rings)
5. Basil of Baker Street (from The Great Mouse Detective)
6. Elizabeth Bennet (from Pride & Prejudice)
7. Mr. Rochester (from Jane Eyre)
8. Carl Fredricksen (from UP)
9. Vlad Taltos (from the eponymous series)
10. Miles Edgeworth (from the Phoenix Wright/Ace Attorney/etc. games)
11. Kailani (from Addergoole)
12. Aqua Regina (from The Philosopher’s Society)
1. Who would make a better college prof, 6 or 11?
Oh, Kailani, hands down. She’s brilliant and intellectual. Eliza Bennet… is not.
2. Do you think #2 is hot?
Uhh… well I wouldn’t exactly call Holmes “hot”, no.
3. 12 sends 8 out on a mission. What is it? Does it succeed?
Good lord, I haven’t a clue. Regina sending an old man out on a mission? It could be anything! Probably something seemingly innocent like buying bagels but which really serves a vital function of misdirection or information-gathering, completely unbeknownst to our dear Mr. Fredricksen.
It would succeed, though. Of course. Everything Regina plans, succeeds. She doesn’t plan things very often, though.
4. What is or what would be 9’s favorite book?
The Vlad Taltos books, of course. He has a bit of an ego.
5. Would it make more sense for 2 to swear fealty to 6, or the other way around?
HA. Can I even answer this seriously? Maybe in a sort of half-assed sense, if Holmes had some ulterior motive which wooing Miss Eliza Bennet would play into, she could potentially fall for him and make some sort of vow that somewhat resembles fealty…
6. For some reason, 5 is looking for a roommate. Should (s)he room with 9 or 10?
Hm. Unless Edgeworth hates mice, I think Basil would prefer that. Better access to criminal records, forensics equipment and the like.
7. 2, 7 and 12 are going out to dinner. Where do they go and what do they discuss?
Uhm, some English pub, maybe? They’d be discussing subjects which involve one of Holmes’ cases but would never actually explicitly state the subject, and there would be some sort of interesting undercurrents going on with Holmes and Regina. Rochester, charismatic as he may be, would probably only serve as a point of information-gathering for the other two.
8. 3 challenges 10 to a duel, who wins?
The thought makes me giggle. Edgeworth can be somewhat ruthless, but Belle has the Beast (or, blagh, prince) and also her father’s wacky contraptions… I think it might be a draw.
9. If 1 stole 8’s most precious possession, how would (s)he get it back?
Oh dear. If Arcadia Snips steals your most precious possession, you aren’t getting it back. Poor Fredricksen. He probably would never know she’s taken it and would go on some sort of quest to locate it but never would.
10. Suggest a story title in which 7 and 12 both attain what they desire.
I… don’t think Aqua Regina has a particular desire. She certainly hasn’t ever told me. Unfortunately, that leaves just Mr. Rochester, and we already know the title of that book is “Jane Eyre”. You could do a fun little story with the two of them, though, named “Mr. Rochester and the Meddlesome Redhead” or something.
11. What kind of plot device would you have to use if you wanted 1 and 4 to work together?
An evil force is building, and it threatens both the Shire and the city of Aberwick with CERTAIN DESTRUCTION. Only by joining forces can either hope to defeat such a threat!
12. If 7 visited you for the weekend, how would it go?
Horribly. Who would want Mr. Rochester staying at their place?
13. If you could command 3 to perform any service or task for you, what would it be?
Oh oh oh that one is easy! Have her father invent me something awesome, for free!
14. Does anyone on your friends list write or draw 11?
Ironically, yes! Lyn Thorne-Alder is the author of
15. If 2 had to choose sides between 4 and 5, what side would (s)he choose?
Holmes is on no one’s side but his own. Also, choosing between a hobbit and a talking mouse? Seriously? Seriously?
I guess Basil, since I could see Holmes being rather flattered by the imitation.
16. What might 10 shout out while charging into battle?
EULALIAAAA no I’m kidding. Miles Edgeworth does not charge into battle. Miles Edgeworth poses dramatically while his army charges into battle for him. He’d probably say something cliche like “TO VICTORY!”
17. If you had to choose a song to best describe 8, what would it be?
I don’t know, but the song “Daydream” by the Lovin’ Spoonful was the first thing that popped into my head. What a day for a daydream. What a day for a daydreamin’ boy.
Maybe because it’s a Pixar movie…
No, Fredricksen deserves an awesome, dramatic song, like the Indiana Jones theme or something.
18. 1, 6 and 12 are having a dim sum at a Chinese Restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reach for it at the same time. Who gets it?
Arcadia Snips, clearly. She’s been relying on quick reflexes her whole life. She completely outclasses the other two.
19. What would be a good pickup line for 2 to say to 10?
OH MY GOD SHERLOCK HOLMES HITTING ON MILES EDGEWORTH MY MIND JUST BROKE
20. What would 5 most likely be arrested for?
Breaking and entering. Except he’s a MOUSE.
21. What is 6’s secret?
She’s secretly… IN LOVE.
No that’s not really secret. Maybe she secretly hates dogs. Darned if I know.
22. If 11 and 9 were racing to a destination, who would get there first?
Oooh, I’m going to have to say Vlad Taltos. Kailani is athletic and has inhuman friends and all that jazz, but Vlad Taltos probably knows all the shortcuts and might even be able to just teleport.
23. If you had to walk home through a bad neighborhood late at night, who would you feel more comfortable walking with, 7 or 8?
Can’t I have 2 instead? Oh well, I guess Mr. Rochester would look more threatening and be better at beating people up of the two.
24. 1 and 9 reluctantly team up to save the world from the threat posed by 4’s sinister secret organization. 11 volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that s/he is actually a spy for 4. Meanwhile, 4 has kidnapped 12 in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of 5, they seek out 3, who gives them what they need to complete their quest. What title would you give this fiction?
Woah, woah woah, let me actually plug those names in there. That’s a lot of characters.
Ha, this is amazingly bad. Merry Brandybuck is the primary villain? How about “Arcadia Snips and the Great Misunderstanding”? Or maybe “Arcadia Snips and the Not-So-Dastardly Fiend”? Oh I know, “The Great Shire Plot”!
Okay, and now I need to tag some people who then have to do it as well! I’ll link to their posts if/when they post theirs.

@LynThorneAlder
If I haven’t informed you that you were tagged yet, sorry, I was planning on getting to it later today.

I will do it somewhat soon! Do I have a database to use? (You know, to install the blog?)
Funny, I had an idea the other day where I’d have something of a parody of Sentai shows using the twelve birthstones as a motif.
